Katelyn
Hi! I’m Katelyn and I am so happy to meet you! I am the founder of Rooted Salon and I’m so glad you landed on this page.
I’m an Emmaus High School graduate who has always had a strong affection for the art of hairdressing. Born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania, I graduated from Empire Beauty School in 2007 and began my career in the Lehigh Valley right away. My husband, Brandon, and I opened Rooted in the spring of 2017 and had the honor of being voted “Best Women’s Salon’ four consecutive years; 2017-2020.
Some of my professional accolades include my studies at Vidal Sassoon in New York City and Toronto. I was a scholarship winner for Beauty Changes Lives and was awarded a week-long training on precision haircutting. I hold multiple certifications for the latest techniques, including balayage, foilayage, and gray blending. I am well versed in Wella Professional hair color as this is the line I’ve worked with for the entirety of my career. I pride myself on being versatile and enjoy the variety that each guest’s hair brings to my chair.
As I’ve been around the industry for some time now, I am often asked what my favorite part of my job is. Aside from making a woman feel refreshed and beautiful, I strive to offer my professional opinion on what color and haircut best suits a guest’s face shape and skin/eye coloring. It is so rewarding to see the ‘before + after’ unveiled in real time, right in front of me. The softness a proper haircut can bring to a hard jawline; the pink in someone’s cheeks brought back to life with the correct depth of color around their face…I am a complete hair nerd and live for these types of transformations!
As the founder of Rooted Salon, I believe that the customer experience and service go hand-in-hand to loving your new hair. I strive to make sure everyone who enters the salon feels welcomed, relaxed, and pampered.
While I am not in the shop, you can find me wiping runny noses and cleaning up the messes of our three-year-old daughter and eight-month-old son. My husband and I are both Lehigh Valley natives who have been married since 2013. I jokingly mention that my hobbies include running a business and taking care of my family. In my (imaginative) free time, I love to read, be outdoors, or enjoy a family-friendly adventure.

Meet
Melissa
Meet Melissa! She holds the title of our team’s curly hair expert, and you will know you’ve met her when you see her very own nourished, hydrated, bouncy curls!
Melissa has been working behind the chair for eleven years. Melissa offers a comprehensive, curl-focused approach to diagnosis, styling and prescriptive care for each specific curl type. She has undergone specialized training with Ouidad to thoroughly understand how to decipher curl pattern, work with the Ouidad proprietary cutting techniques, and their signature styling method to enhance curls to optimum perfection. She is a certified Ouidad Curl Artist.
Aside from her extensive training in curly hair, Melissa is a colorist, certified by Masters of Balayage for their blonding and balayage courses. She is a precise and calculated stylist, making sure your next color is nothing short of what you have discussed with her.
Melissa has recently relocated to the Lehigh Valley after spending most of her career in Northern Jersey and is excited to build her clientele in the surrounding area.
While Melissa is out of the salon, you may find her in the gym or snuggled up with her pup, Sofie. She enjoys spending quality time with her family and being active.

Meet
Selina
Selina comes to Rooted Salon with eight years of experience behind the chair. She is exceptionally talented in the craft of hairdressing. Her attention to detail, artistic vision, and professional demeanor set her apart. She is your girl whether you have blue hair, blonde hair, no hair, literally any type of hair. She strives to give her guests the highest level of customer service while achieving their hair goals.
Selina is certified in Bellami Extensions. She is well-versed in five methods of extensions, including tape-ins, K-tips, I-tips, hand-tied wefts, and volume wefts. She enjoys variety in her career and loves to get to know her guest’s lifestyle and hair concerns through a thorough consultation. She is well-versed in vivid hair color, blonding work, gray coverage, and haircutting. Her artistic skill has no limit!
While not at the salon, Selina enjoys spending time with her longtime boyfriend, Stone. She has the sweetest pet bunny, Thumper, who lives his best life, eating all the fresh veggies and roaming around. Selina enjoys being outdoors, cooking, and working out.
